Stolen vehicles recovered by Amanzimtoti crime fighters

The owner was not aware it had been stolen.

ET Rapid Response’s Tactical Response Team (TRT), working together with a tracking company, recovered a score of stolen vehicles in the Durban South area.

Suspects were still in the process of stripping a Kia K2700 stolen on Friday evening, 24 July when TRT and tracking members approached. They abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot in the KwaMakhuta area.

“The vehicle was severely stripped, as the suspects were trying to locate the tracking device. The vehicle was handed over to Toti SAPS crime prevention for further processing,” said ET managing member, Tony Lokker.

A Volkswagen Polo that was hijacked on Saturday evening, 25 July in Isipingo Beach by four armed suspects while the victims were praying, was recovered in Umlazi.

“The tracking device was activated and our TRT responded. As the suspects saw our members approaching, they raced to a dead-end road where they abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.” The vehicle was handed over to Umlazi K9 SAPS for further processing.

A Kia K2700 was found abandoned in Umlazi, which was confirmed as stolen in the early hours of Tuesday morning, 28 July. “The owner was not aware it had been stolen, until he was contacted by the tracking company. The vehicle was handed over to Isipingo SAPS for further processing. Well done to all members involved.”
