Get in the saddle for the Domino Foundation

The aQuellé Tour Durban, which takes place this weekend (25 and 26 July) is open to all, whether they pace themselves like pros or still have training wheels attached to their bone-rattlers.

The billing of the tour as the city’s ‘premier cycling event’ is always a big draw for the peloton pack and the elite of cyclocross. With the cancellation of this year’s real time races and the usual 4 000-plus local and national cyclists not being able to vie with each other on Durban’s roads, organisers of the 2020 cycling calendar highlight have set up a virtual event in which global cyclists can also participate from the comfort of their lounge or home gym.

Sponsor, aQuellé is determined to honour its commitment to the Domino Foundation, the beneficiaries of the race, and draw in as many participants as possible. Through its focused community transformation initiatives, the Toti-based NPO directly impacts the lives of over 12 000 individuals daily, across KZN and the Western Cape.

Karen Brokensha, Domino’s marketing storyteller, urges all ‘weekend warriors’ to get outdoors, pump their tyres and adjust the seats of their trusty two-wheelers. “Register online for the Aquelle Tour Durban weekend with a minimum donation of R50 in lieu of an entry fee.”

She encourages entrants to get out onto their local roads to ride and share their photos and videos as comments on the Domino Facebook page. “All the details of how to be part of this signal version of Tour Durban are on the website www.tourdurban.co.za. Let’s make this the biggest Tour Durban ever, as participants don’t have to be in Durban, they can be part of the action from anywhere in the world!”
