Abandoned puppy seeks new home

Kynoch is now looking for a loving home.

An abandoned pup, Kynoch, who defied the odds, is now up for adoption at Amanzimtoti SPCA. Last year, around September, a mother and her three puppies were abandoned near Kynoch Road.

Members of Amanzimtoti SPCA managed to track them down, however, one of the puppies escaped.

Speaking to the SUN, PRO of the organisation, Michelle Hannah said, “We got a few calls about a mom and three pups that were abandoned near Kynoch Road and that they were in poor condition. Inspectors and Tracey Girlling immediately went out and managed to catch the mom and two of the pups. The other one got away at the time. Over the months, our inspectors have been back on several occasions to befriend her and gain her trust. Many attempts were made to trap her, but all were in vain.”

With the help of the public, she was fed over the past several months, but continued to live in terrible conditions.

“She was exposed to the ever changing weather conditions on the coast. She was alone, lost and lonely. Over lockdown, she was sadly not getting the food and she had become so used to being fed. Due to hunger as well as her new found trust in our inspectors, she was successfully trapped in May. She has now been in our care since then and is surprisingly sweet and playful. She has adapted incredibly well and really enjoys being around people. We need a special home for our special girl. She is still a very young adult and will need a lot of love and attention. She got her name from the road she lived on for so long,” she added.

Kynoch is now looking for a loving home. To see the little pup, visit Amanzimtoti SPCA which is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4pm and Saturdays from 8.30am to 12pm. Home checks and adoption fees apply.
