Stan brings tenpin to Toti

By early next month, Toti will boast its own tenpin bowling centre, The Dolphin Bowl, on a prime site on the beach-front.
The R2,3 million project is being built above Funland on Beach Road and provides an added attraction for the town and somewhere to go. With exquisite views overlooking the beach, The Dolphin Bowl will take up the entire first floor of the prime site building and includes a restaurant and bar facility with a big screen for sports fans.

 

Home buyer is burglary suspect

A Kingsburgh resident has warned people to be on the lookout for a house breaker posing as a prospective home buyer after her house was burgled recently.
Terry Baker, whose home is for sale, was at work when she was informed her house had been broken into. Her neighbour told her she had seen a man in Baker’s yard. The neighbour asked the man what he was doing there and he told her he was there to look at the house, which has for sale signs posted in front.

 

Model girl in business

Local lovely, Wendy Poll Jonker, came in the top five in Miss KwaZulu-Natal beauty pageant held recently.
Born and bred in Toti, Wendy attended Athlone Park Primary and Kingsway High School. Her more recently won competitions were the Scottburgh and Durban Mardi Gras. No bimbo, Wendy is currently doing her BCom through Unisa. At the age of 18 she has, in partnership with her brother, started her own business. She is selling a multi-purpose cleaner, catering for restaurants, pubs and clubs that larger businesses don’t cater for. Running her own business gives Wendy time to continue competing in competitions.

 

Women trapped

Two women miraculously escaped serious injury when their vehicle went under a bus on the Isipingo flyover on Sunday night.
A crane was used to lift the bus off their car and after two hours, rescue workers managed to free them from the wreckage using hydraulic equipment.

 

Prank call warning

Police issued a warning to prank callers after an incident at Checkers last week.
Police received a tip that there were armed gunmen in the store. They converged on the store only to find the tip-off was a hoax. “People caught making these false calls will be prosecuted,” said a police spokesman.

 

Bela Vista shooting

Police appeal for witnesses to a shooting incident at the Bela Vista Hotel earlier this year to come forward.
The incident happened on Saturday, 25 February, at about 11.45pm. Four counts of attempted murder were reported and the police require statements from witnesses.
