Wessex Drive in Amanzimtoti open to traffic

The parks department’s team cut back trees and overgrowth.

The long awaited repairs along Wessex Drive were recently completed under level three. The Winklespruit road was closed to traffic after a huge washaway in September 2019 render it a danger to motorists. The road surface was undermined halfway into Seaside Lane and the embankment collapsed due to saturation which in turn caused the storm water infrastructure to come apart.

Repairs were affected on numerous occasions by inclement weather, but persistence by ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge to have the project priortise has seen it now open to residents. “Arrangements were made with the parks department’s team to cut back trees and overgrowth on Friday, 5 May to render the road once again safely passable.”
