Refuse bags are inferior – eThekwini Municipality

Customers can exchange bags at their nearest cleansing and solid waste depot.

eThekwini Municipality has admitted the black refuse bags it issues are faulty and of poor quality.

This comes after a thorough investigation into the matter after numerous customer complaints about the poor quality of the refuse bags and incorrect sizing. The results of the investigation were communicated with the supplier, who will replace the bad batches at no cost. According to the supplier this was due to lapses in their quality control.

“The municipality wishes to inform all eThekwini residents that any recently distributed black refuse bags of inferior quality will be replaced. The municipality apologies for the inconvenience to customers.

Customers who are experiencing problems with the black refuse bags due to poor quality or incorrect size should return these bags to their nearest cleansing and solid waste depot for an exchange,” said municipal spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela.
