Illegal firearms seized, two arrested in Fakazi

Both appeared in the Amanzimtoti Magistrate’s Court.

Two men were arrested and illegal firearms seized during an operation conducted by the provincial firearm and drug unit at Fakazi area in Lovu Township in the early hours of Thursday, 4 June.

The focus of the operation was to remove illegal firearms and the team swooped on a homestead, where a search was conducted. A 41-year-old man was found in possession of a pistol, homemade shotgun, air rifle and three rounds of ammunition.

The team proceeded to another homestead, where a 25-year-old was found in possession of a pistol with four rounds of ammunition. Both appeared in the Amanzimtoti Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 5 June.
