Orange bag programme resumes

According to a press release, this comes after the Cleansing and Solid Waste Unit has ensured that it will continue to adhere to the standards placed by the Department of Health regarding the safety of its employees in the work environment to eliminate the spread of Covid-19 during lockdown.

THE orange bag recycling programme has resumed since Monday, 1 June.

According to a press release, this comes after the Cleansing and Solid Waste Unit has ensured that it will continue to adhere to the standards placed by the Department of Health regarding the safety of its employees in the work environment to eliminate the spread of Covid-19 during lockdown.

“The city thanks eThekwini residents for their continued participation in the recycling project and apologises for any inconvenience caused to the project during the level five lockdown period. The public is urged to note that garden refuse sites will remain closed under level four of South Africa’s Covid-19 lockdown regulations.  The public will be informed when garden refuse sites reopen. The Municipality will continue to collect domestic refuse as per the normal schedule as this is an essential service. The public is urged to adhere to the weekly refuse schedule for their respective areas,” the release stated.

For refuse removal enquiries, residents can contact the DSW Helpline on 031-311-8804.
