The world stood still [POEM]

We felt for those less fortunate, and those whose loved ones died.

Newsflashes and announcements, that an enemy was at hand, running rampant through our cities and every corner of our land.

The world stood still in disbelief, while havoc and chaos reigned.

By contaminating countries, this evil monster gained.

What power in a virus, so small and yet unseen.

Power, with no rival, it was Covid-19.

Economies and businesses were very badly hit, and all the players of the world were asked to “do their bit”.

New measures put in place, to keep us all apart, but it didn’t stop us caring, from deep within our heart.

We felt for those less fortunate, and those whose loved ones died.

We listened and we watched, and knew the world had cried.
But …

The stillness of the cities with much reduced pollution, brought questions to our minds, “Is this part of the solution?”

The birds sang louder in the trees and animals roamed the streets.

Nature took a breather, while people took their seats.

Mankind would fight, tooth and nail, and never give up in despair.

We’d done our very best, to bring about repair.

When future generations, their minds with history fill, they’ll remember the pandemic, the year the world stood still.
