Art gallery opens virtual doors

Art on Line has opened its virtual doors.  The organisation formerly known as Art on Kingsway shut down during the start of lockdown after beautifying the community for three years. As a way to keep local artists afloat during these uncertain times, the organisation has adopted an innovative way to provide the community with a dose of art.

The organisation’s Patricia McCann said, “Due to Covid-19 we had to close our beloved physical gallery. However, thanks to online shopping being allowed we have decided to recreate Art on Kingsway as an online gallery. We will be posting the works of our artists, size, medium, and the artist’s contact details. Most of our artists are from Amanzimtoti and surrounding areas. We will continue to give the gift of art to the community. While this has been a culture shock for us, moving from a physical gallery to online, we have already received positive feedback.”

“The online gallery gives residents something new and beautiful to be inspired by. We appreciate everyone who has supported us over the last three years and we would be so grateful if you would continue to visit this space and like or comment on our paintings. I am finding the lockdown peaceful since I am able to be more connected to nature. I have discovered just how peaceful and beautiful life is for me and I truly hope that others feel the same. My message to residents is to be patient and everything will be better after the lockdown is lifted. We just need to put effort into helping others during this time,” added the bubbly artist.
