Orange bag recycling programme to re-open in June

eThewini Municipality has confirmed that the kerbside orange bag recycling programme will resume operation on 1 June.

The cleansing and solid waste unit has ensured that it adheres to the standards placed by the Department of Health and is in line with the safety of its employees in the work environment to eliminate chances of contracting and spreading of the Covid 19 during level four of lockdown.

“Residents are encouraged to limit the amount of recyclables generated or reuse, up-cycle or store recyclables on their properties. The city thanks residents for their continued participation in the recycling project and apologises for the inconvenience caused,” said city spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela.
