Do not leave valuables near windows – CCPO

A stolen chainsaw and brushcutter were recovered on Monday, 20 April.

The CCPO continues to warn people about leaving valuables such as phones and laptops near windows.
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, 22 March cellphones were stolen in Athlone Park and Illovo Beach. “Conceal all valuables before you go to bed. Make it routine to check windows and doors, ensure nothing is in sight and set your alarm,” warned CCPO committee member, George Snodey.

A stolen chainsaw and brushcutter were recovered by Snodey, with assistance from Tony Lokker of ET Rapid Response and a Toti detective on Monday, 20 April. “After receiving information relating to the sale of these machines by a housebreaking suspect that we arrested last week, we recovered them at differant locations in the Mangweni and KwaMakhuta areas. We identified the owner of the chainsaw, but still need the owner of the brushcutter to come forward.”

If you believe it’s yours, contact the investigating officer and they will assist you.

The CCPO assisted in nabbing a drug dealer on Saturday, 18 April. “After getting information about where he is hiding the drugs he is selling from his vehicle, the info was shared with Metro Police.” When conducting a search, drugs were found hidden under the hooter. He was then taken to his supplier at the Winklespruit station, where the premises was searched. Drugs, alcohol and cigarettes, which were found in the shop, were impounded and the two suspects taken to Toti SAPS to be charged.
