Two arrested for stealing R40 000 worth of liquor in Amanzimtoti

It is alleged that on Saturday, 11 April, security guards discovered that a business premises on Arbour Road in Amanzimtoti was broken into.

Two suspects were arrested for stealing liquor valued at R40 000 and a vehicle was recovered following an intelligence driven operation, on Saturday, 18 April.

Police officers and other law enforcement agencies conducted an intelligence driven operation aimed at solving burglary cases on an Amanzimtoti business premises.

Police spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala said, “Police proceeded to KwaMakhutha where they arrested two suspects, aged 30 and 36, and recovered a vehicle that that was allegedly used during the commission of the crime.”

It is alleged that on Saturday, 11 April, security guards discovered that a business premises on Arbour Road in Amanzimtoti was broken into.

“Liquor valued at more than R40,000 was stolen. A case of burglary was opened at Amanzimtoti police station for investigation. Police investigations led to the arrest of the suspects. The suspects will be charged and will appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court soon. An investigation is continuing to determine if they are linked to similar cases,” added Gwala.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lt-Gen Khombinkosi Jula commended the police officers for the arrests.
