Donations pour into SPCA despite lockdown

Residents are encouraged to donate food at the bins at Pick n' Pay Arbour Crossing and Pick n' Pay Kingsburgh.

Tails are wagging and bellies are full at Amanzimtoti SPCA. Despite the Covid-19 lockdown, the true spirit of community radiated through. Donations have poured into the organisation by generous sponsors who headed the call for help. Its definitely not business as usual however, since only a few staff members are at the facility.  They are tasked with cleaning kennels, feeding animals, and medicating those who are undergoing treatment.

Media officer of the organisation, Stacey Wall said, “This is just the way it’s going to be, so we are keeping our spirits up. In order to stay afloat during this time, without our sources of income (charity shops, etc.), we need to raise R150 000 in donations. We are so humbled to see that in just one day we raised R4 800. This brings our total to R18 732. We know everyone is struggling right now, but if you can, please consider making even the smallest donation. If just half of our supporters on this page could donate just R21 once off, we would make it. Please don’t think that any amount is too small. Your donation will make a difference.”

“Our precious animals are none the wiser, and all have tummies full of yummy food that was generously donated to us. Things are tough, but we’re coping. Our hearts are filled with appreciation. Thank you so much to every single person who has donated. We are unbelievably grateful. Thank you so much everyone, and stay safe,” she added.
