Amanzimtoti residents cautioned from spreading fake virus news

Beetge urged residents to use water in geysers sparingly during water outages.

Ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge requests that Toti residents refrain from circulating fake and unsubstantiated Covid-19 related information from unknown sources on social media.

Beetge dismissed rumours of looting and incidents of chaos in Amanzimtoti. “Law enforcement is deployed and on patrol – just because they aren’t in your street, doesn’t mean they aren’t doing anything. With everyone at home, more sewage related problems will occur, which will place more of a demand on resources and lead to delays.

“Likewise with the supply of water, as plumbers are working against a backlog and tankers are dispatched to areas that are wanting, as opposed to a single street or house where plumbers are actually already attending.”

Beetge urged residents to use water in geysers sparingly during water outages. If you have a water problem, you still call 080-311-1 -111 or Whatsapp to 073-148-3477. For electricity related problems, call 080-311-1111 or Whatsapp to 076-791-2449.
