Letter to the editor – Kudos to Toti SAPS

I was extremely impressed by not only the service I received, but most importantly the professionalism and friendliness of all concerned.

EDITOR – Too often we hear horror stories about the lack of service and interest by our police service in supporting the community.
This week I have had to use the firearm amnesty to re-license a lapsed firearm license. I dreaded this as my most recent use of state services was our Home Affairs in Prospecton and Park Rynie.
Well, was I surprised. I was extremely impressed by not only the service I received, but most importantly the professionalism and friendliness of all concerned. From the female officer administrating the process, to the officer who took my firearm into safe custody to the cashier who receipted my license fees, I thank you all.
You made an onerous paper driven process easy for me to understand and without exception eased the process with patient advise and a smile. You three are a good example of what I expect from our police service and you are an asset to your station and the community you serve.
In addition, to all the other police officers at the station who in passing greeted me in a friendly manner, your acknowledgement of me was appreciated. Again, thank you all and I certainly hope your station commander recognises your excellent service.
