Khanya Hospice continues the good fight

The pandemic has also taken its toll on Hospice’s finances, so donations are urgently needed,

As an essential service during lockdown, Khanya Hospice staff are still going out to see patients, but they are taking safety precautions by wearing their masks and using hand sanitiser.

“We have been shopping and stocking up on essential medication that we need from day to day. We are essential services as per the restrictions and limitations imposed by government and announced by President Ramaphosa and we are doing our best to try and curb the spread of Covid-19,” said CEO, Neil McDonald.

“We have to go out and see our very sick patients who are on our Hospice care programme and make sure they are pain controlled. We have also cut down on the general day-to-day visits of patients that are doing well, as we cannot risks our nurses to be exposed unnecessary. We have always in the past, in our kind of work, wore masks, used sanitisers and took precautionary measures to protect our staff and will continued to do so.”

The pandemic has also taken its toll on Hospice’s finances, so if you want to make a donation, call Neil on 083-597-8985 or email hospice@khanyahospice.co.za.
