Easter holiday programme cancelled

The SCT team thanks all businesses and sponsors that would have participated in the holiday programme. The team will be working hard towards the June and July holiday season provided the situation improves by then.

The Easter beach holiday programme hosted by Sapphire Coast Tourism has been cancelled. This is a protective measure in light of coronavirus lockdown issued by the government.

The SCT team thanks all businesses and sponsors that would have participated in the holiday programme. The team will be working hard towards the June and July holiday season provided the situation improves by then.

The organisation’s Romy Wenzel said, “Your ongoing support is highly appreciated. eThekwini Municipality’s public swimming pools as well as swimming beaches are closed for bathing until further notice. We humbly ask the public to comply with safety precautions that are set in place to avoid the spreading of the virus. As is, the longer it takes to control the pandemic, the longer businesses will suffer. With sports events, Indaba, Highland Gathering, music events, and the list goes on, either being postponed or cancelled, the tourism sector is already struggling immensely. With accommodation establishments, entertainment centres, tour operators, event companies and restaurants being hit extremely hard.”

The SCT team wishes each and every business, strength during these difficult times.

“It’s definitely not the holidays any of us was wishing for with March and Easter Holidays being the second busiest time of the year from a tourism perspective. Nevertheless, we would like to encourage the public to adhere to safety measurements being set in place, such as washing your hands regularly, using hand sanitiser, avoiding big gatherings and so forth as we all need to look at the bigger picture with the entire world being affected,” she added.
