Kingsway Hospital debunks coronavirus rumours

General manager of Netcare Kingsway Hospital, Annatjie Demetriou said, “We can assure the public that we have implemented comprehensive measures to detect, identify and respond appropriately to any suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our facility.”

Rumours circulating on social media regarding the coronavirus reaching Amanzimtoti has caused quite a stir however, Netcare Kingsway Hospital has confirmed that no patients have tested positively for COVID-19 on Thursday, 12 March.

General manager of Netcare Kingsway Hospital, Annatjie Demetriou said, “We can assure the public that we have implemented comprehensive measures to detect, identify and respond appropriately to any suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our facility.”

So far 17 cases of the virus, have now been diagnosed in South Africa, including in eight cases in KwaZulu-Natal.

“Members of the public can phone the NICD toll free public hotline on 080-002-9999 Mondays to Fridays, from 8am to 4pm, for information on the coronavirus,” she added.
