Isipingo pensioner shot after drawing money

It is unclear whether the men fled with or without the money.

An Isipingo pensioner was shot four times in an armed robbery after returning from drawing an undisclosed amount of money at a Galleria bank on Tuesday, 3 March.

Isipingo SAPS communication officer, Captain David Ragavan said the incident happened at about 12.30pm in Thrush Place. β€œThe driver, who was with his niece at the time, had got out of the vehicle when he was approached by four men. One of them, armed with a firearm, demanded the money. The driver refused and he was shot four times – in the right arm, right side of his mid-section and twice in the right leg.”

It is unclear whether the men fled with or without the money, but they did take his cellphone. The driver is still in ICU and the police are waiting to question him. A case of armed robbery and attempted murder is being investigated by Isipingo SAPS.
