Criminals behind bars thanks to Amanzimtoti’s CCPO

A thief who tried to steal one of the donation tins at Victory Spar was caught by the CCPO.

A housebreaker who broke into a unit at a complex in Fynn Road, Amanzimtoti on Monday morning, 10 February was caught by the resident. The CCPO, Blue Security and ET Rapid Response assisted and the stolen items were recovered.

Saturday, 8 February

Two men carrying stolen goods were apprehended on Almond Road by CCPO foot patrol guards. “A housebreaking had occurred just after midnight in Pelican Place, Illovo Glen. While we were getting information about the stolen items, patrol guards saw the two men carrying fishing rods and black bags,” said Snodey. With assistance from the CCPO and Amanzimtoti SAPS, it was confirmed that the items were stolen in the housebreaking. They were detained by Amanzimtoti SAPS.

Friday, 7 February

A thief who tried to steal one of the donation tins at Victory Spar in Warner beach was caught by CCPO supervisor, Lloyd Maphumulo and his crewman Nhlanhla Mbambo near DSM Mall in Winklespruit. He was identified by staff members. “He had three new USB flash drives in his bag, which he claimed somebody in Umkomaas gave him, but we found the shop he had stolen them from,” said Snodey. He was handed over to SAPS members, with both shop owners opening cases against him.

Thursday, 6 February

A suspect who jumped the fence into a property on Kingsway, Athlone Park tried to rob a woman in the house, but her husband managed to apprehend him. With assistance from CCPO, ET Rapid Response and Blue Security, he was handed over to Amanzimtoti SAPS.
