Amanzimtoti composer to perform in Zanzibar

This performance comes at a time in his career where international growth is on his doorstep.

Fresh off the release of his fourth album, titled ‘Amanzi Nemifula – Umkhuleko’, composer and pianist Sibusiso ‘Mash’ Mashiloane is getting ready to jet off to Zanzibar in Tanzania as the only South African artist who is booked at this year’s Sauti Za Busara festival.

The festival’s aim is to bring people together to celebrate African music under African skies. The 17th edition takes place in Stone Town, Zanzibar from 13 to 16 February. Sauti Za Busara prides itself to be a 100% live music festival with a rich line-up.

The festival’s vision of celebrating the musical diversity on the African continent perfectly matches Mashiloane’s long-term vision as a musician, academic and lecturer to conscientise Africans about the value of their own works. “I am very honoured to be performing at Sauti Za Busara, since it celebrates African music and assists in breeding a new generation of audiences and musicians who pride themselves on their African heritage,” said Mash.

It will be his first time performing on Busara’s main stage. He will travel with his band that features Dalisu Ndlazi on bass guitar, Riley Giandhari on drums, Thabo Sikhakhane on trumpet and Nolwazi Ydestral on vocals. Aside from a live performance Mash will also be a guest on a music business panel.
