Toti architect retires after 30 years

Judy who is a familiar face in the area decided to retire after her passion for architecture faded.

After almost 30 years of being in the architecture field, Judy Charles has put down her drawing tools and called it quits.
Judy who is a familiar face in the area decided to retire after her passion for architecture faded. She worked in the greater areas of Amanzimtoti and Kingsburgh.

Recalling her most memorable design, Judy said, “All of my designs were exciting and special to me. However, designing my first complex building in Riverside Road was my most memorable. It was the first big design I got to do. I always wanted to get into residential architecture and I am glad I spent so many years serving the community.”

Judy thanked all those who supported her during her career.

 “I thank Anthea Jaap for her mentorship, Dave and Dale Clendennen for their support, the staff from Engineering, Town Planning and Building Departments for making challenging jobs a breeze and all of my loyal clients. I am excited that my life is taking a new direction together with my partner,” she said.

Now that she has retired, Judy will be enjoy some much needed relaxation by the beach and she looks forward to take up fine art.
