Haul of arrests over festive season within Outer South cluster

There is positive teamwork between all the stations, partners and units.

eThekwini Outer South (EOS) SAPS cluster made 841 arrests during the festive season from 1 to 31 December between the eight stations. 2019.

These included for murder, attempted murder, rape, sexual assault, kidnapping, business robbery, assault GBH, armed robbery, house robbery, house breaking, malicious damage to property, theft, domestic violence, possession of dangerous weapons, shoplifting, carjacking, theft of motor vehicle, malicious damage to property, possession of drugs, drunk in public, drunk and driving, road traffic infringements and dealing in liquor without a license.

“Within the EOS cluster, there is positive teamwork between all the stations, partners and units. Everyone is focused and supporting the operational plans in place to address crime and this makes the difference in removing criminals from our streets and communities. We are committed to cover hotspots within the communities and do random operations to ensure we remove criminals and maintain law and order in our cluster during this busy festive period.

Our operations will continue during and after the holidays to ensure that our communities are kept safe,” said acting commander, Brigadier SB Ngcobo.

“Amanzimtoti, Bhekithemba, Folweni, Ispingo, KwaMakhuta, Umkomaas, Umbumbulu and Umlazi police stations were committed to bringing crime down in the cluster and ensure that their communities feel safer during the festive period and beyond. Units within the cluster such as Umlazi K9, VCIS, Umlazi FCS and intelligence have contributed in helping make some excellent recoveries and arrests as well.

Our partnerships with Metro Police and RTI also contributed towards the successes within the Cluster and the help of the community in giving information and working with SAPS also adds to the good picture.”
