Farewell Doctor Bos

His work ethic and loyalty to staff and patients meant a lot to him.

Well-known dentist, and family man Marcus Bos was called to rest on Tuesday, 3 December. Marc was born in Valkenswaard in the Netherlands. The family moved to SA in November 1972, and settled in Pinetown in 1973.
He attended Hilton College from 1978 to 1982 where he played rugby, cricket and did really well at water polo. Wits University was the next step in 1983 where Marc studied Dentistry and stayed in ‘Res’, graduating in 1988.

He did his army stint of roughly 18 months, going to the Border in Rundu and finishing his army life in Pretoria. Marc married Nicole in 1989 and they made the move to Amanzimtoti and started his Dental Practice in 1991. Marc and Nicole both enjoyed scuba diving and had many exciting dives with friends at Aliwal Shoal near Umkomaas, St Lucia and The Comoros.

Marc advanced to dive master level and search and recovery. He also obtained his skippers certificate. In 1993 his son, Kyle, was born cerebral palsied and Marc was always a doting father. He also developed a keen eye for photography and the family spent many holidays camping and caravanning in Kruger Park and Marloth Park, South Coast, Midlands and Lesotho.  Marc also joined the Kingsburgh Lions Club and went on to become President for a year, always giving and caring for people. He also bought prime land and built his practice on Kingsway.

His work ethic and loyalty to staff and patients meant a lot to him. Many a long hour was spent by the couple in the garden and Marc was quite the handy man, even doing carpentry work for the house. He was passionate about golf, joined the Strand Strikers Club and Umkomaas Golf Club. His love of life, pride and attention to detail in all he achieved, caring nature and loyalty to friends and family set the bar high for others to follow.

His loving wife, Nicole said, “A light from our family is gone. A voice we loved is still. A place is vacant in our home that can never be filled. Give him eternal rest Lord, and may Your light shine on him forever.
A request of no flowers but donations can be made to Queensburgh Cheshire Home for the Disabled.”

He is survived by his wife, Nicole, son Kyle, mother Els, brothers Ron and Paul and their families. Also by mother-in-law Marianne, brother-in-law Ivor and family.
