Camping on the beach remains an illegal act

No camping at all is allowed on the beach, this includes people sleeping overnight in their cars.

Holiday makers and residents are reminded that camping on the beach or in the vicinity of the beach area is illegal.  This follows a recent incident were a family was illegally camping on Winklespruit Beach.

Ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge explained that while gazebos and umbrellas are allowed at the beach sided tents are not allowed at the beach, the parking area and gardens or grass areas. “No camping at all is allowed on the beach, this includes people sleeping overnight in their cars.”

He also emphasized that people may only make noise from 7am to 9.30pm from Sunday to Thursday and 8am to midnight from Friday to Saturday.  To report any illegal activity call Metro Police on 031-361-0000.
