Long-serving Seadoone Mall car guard bids farewell

Busi will open her own daycare in January.

A much-loved car guard is leaving Seadoone Mall for greener pastures, after 15 years of looking after customers’ vehicles. Busi Shezi, 42, of Lovu Township started guarding at Toti Centre for three weeks, before moving to the mall.

“After I failed matric, I couldn’t get into university. Then when I fell pregnant with my first child, I thought my life was finished.” But Busi’s sweet nature soon made her a favourite of the mall shoppers.

She also put her head down to study and better herself, and studied security to achieve her SERA qualification. In 2008 she wrote and passed her matric at Siyabonga High School, went on to complete a caregivers course at Mooihawens and is studying towards an Early Childhood Development (ECD) qualification.

“I have registered an NPO in B section in Lovu and in January will open my own business, Adorable Kids Daycare Centre, where I will teach. No child should sit at home, because their parents can’t afford school fees.” Busi is a good example to her four children of how one can better themselves through hard work and belief in oneself.

“I will miss seeing my regular customers at the mall, because everyone knows me. “I thank God and everyone who has been supportive, the mall landlord and managers for creating job opportunities and my employer. Opening my own business is an example to young people to never give up in life, put God first, and trust and have faith that no matter what challenges you are facing, you can get through them with dreaming big and working hard. We are born to win!”
