Amanzimtoti to host KZN Pride events this Summer

For the poetry and book lovers, we have ‘An Art Explosion’.

This year KZN Pride hosts the first ever Summers Pride, a series of events focused on fun for all families, ages, genders, sexualities, races and languages taking place from 13 to 22 December.  It is creating an inclusive space for everyone over this festive season, and a number of different organisations around KZN will be taking part. Same Love Toti will host some of these events, bringing pride to Amanzimtoti.

The transgender picnic is for transgender people of all ages, including their families and friends that affirm and accept gender diversity. The Toti beach picnic is for lesbians and gays of all ages, including those who fall anywhere else on the spectrum, and their supportive families and friends.

“We will also go as a group to see the Ndlovu Choir perform at Galleria Mall and a Neil Diamond Tribute at the Rhumbelow Theatre,” said Same Love Toti founder and director, Kim Lithgow. “There is also sunrise beach yoga on the Durban promenade for the more health conscious. For the poetry and book lovers, we have ‘An Art Explosion’, where local poets perform their poems and local authors present their books, topped off with a locally produced short film.”

Friends Family Restaurant and Pub, which is under new management, and Amon Ra Travel and Tours are also giving back to the Amanzimtoti community by offering a ‘Summers Pride Special’ and will donate 10 per cent of those proceeds to Same Love Toti. For more information, call Kim on 082-654-8635 or 031-904-3405.
