Two women killed in Isipingo hijacking

The victims sustained gunshot wounds to the head and were declared dead at the scene.

Days before the 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence, two women were murdered in an alleged botched hijacking in Isipingo, on Thursday.  Two cases of murder are being investigated by Isipingo SAPS.

Since the incident that claimed the lives of Shireen Kalicharan and Brenda Naidu, on Thursday, the community has been up in arms as they believe that the numerous gender-based violence campaigns have fallen on deaf ears.  Residents took to social media to vent their frustrations.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele said, “It is alleged that on 14 November at 3.20pm, in Lotus Drive, two female victims, aged 40 and 44, were driving their vehicle and while they were stationary at the stop street, they were approached by two armed suspects who opened fire on them.”
