Festive season safety operations launched

Amanzimtoti SAPS together with other law enforcement agencies, armed response units, community policing forum/sub-forums and neighbourhood watch groups, will embark on various operations to combat crime and keep the community and holiday makers safe.

Members of the South African Police Service together with other law enforcement agencies launched the 2019/2020 Safer Festive Season Operations on Friday, 25 October.

The Safer Festive Season Operations will be conducted under the theme Zizojika Izinto – turning the tide against crime.  The Community of Amanzimtoti, Bhekithemba, Folweni, KwaMakhutha, Isipingo, Umbumbulu, Umkomaas and Umlazi was invited to attend the national safety launch.

During the launch of the Safer Festive Season Operations SAPS, together with Vodacom officially launched a SAPS App called MySAPS mobile app.

The new app will allow citizens to interact with law enforcement officials more effectively by:

Commenting on the launch of the operation, National Police spokesperson Brig Vish Naidoo said, “The operations began on Tuesday, 15 October, but was officially launched on Friday, 25 October.  This operation will see visible policing during peak periods such as weekends and the days closer to the festive season.  We are committed to monitoring unlicensed firearms, drugs and crimes against women and children.  High density tourist areas such as beaches and parks will also be closely monitored.  SAPS together with other law enforcement officials have a zero tolerance approach to drinking and driving, speeding and un-roadworthy vehicles, which will remain to avoid carnages on our roads this festive season.”
