One of the biggest income generators for the Amanzimtoti SPCA is the boarding facilities that it offers especially over the Christmas period. The boarding facilities are for kittens/cats and puppies/dogs however, there are some basic regulations that are required before they can take in an animal. There are also some facilities that are beneficial for animals.
They are as follows:
For puppies/dogs:
- Boarding facilities available all year round for dogs.
- Full history of yearly vaccinations must be provided. This includes the five in one and rabies done every year with their three first vaccinations as a puppy.
- If their vaccinations are due before they come in these must be done 10 days before they come in.
- There are regular dog walkers to walk your dogs.
- Price based on the size and breed of dog.
- Comfy and secure environment.
- Booking is essential.
- Dogs must be six months and older.
For kittens/cats:
- Boarding facilities available all year round for cats.
- Full history of yearly vaccinations must be provided. This includes their four in one and rabies including the first three vaccinations that they receive when they are kittens.
- If their vaccinations are due before they come in these must be done 10 days before they come in.
- Comfy and secure environment.
- Booking is essential.
- Cats must be six months and older.
For December, the SPCA requires full payment to be made before the end of October. “We send out forms to be filled in by those who are interested in having their pet stay with us over that period,” said Amanzimtoti SPCA’s Michelle Hannan.
