Little ones have fun in the sun during lifesaving programme

More than 40 children attended to be educated while having fun in the sun.

A successful open day was hosted by Fast Track Surf Lifesaving Club in Umgababa beach on Sunday, 6 October.  More than 40 children attended to be educated while having fun in the sun.

Amy-Lee Matthews, chairperson from Fast Track Surf Lifesaving Club said, “It is important to learn about water safety and the responsibilities of going to the beach. Our Nipper officer, Lunga, did a great job, along with our seniors and the duty squad that helped to ensure that all the children were safe. The members went out of their way to make the youngsters feel at home and spend time to bond with them.”

Members feel positive that next week Sunday they will have a full training squad of nippers starting 9am at Umgababa.

“So we ask community members to ensure that your children are safe this festive, and get them to do sport such as nippers.  At Fast Track, we do take time in teaching children or teenagers, how to swim as well as water safety,” she added.
