Application to open liquor store in Warner Beach withdrawn

The objection was lodged and received by the KwaZulu-Natal Liquor Authority for consideration and the application by the owner was since withdrawn.

Warner Beach residents, who rallied together with the intention of opposing a fifth liquor store in the area, where delighted when the application was withdrawn, recently.

The objection was lodged and received by the KwaZulu-Natal Liquor Authority for consideration and the application by the owner was withdrawn.

In a statement issued by the KwaZulu-Natal Liquor Authority, to the residents who opposed the opening of the liquor store, read, ‘The objection hearings in respect of this application are no longer material.’

Lion Postma, who spoke on behalf of the residents said, “I thank the community for their support and for taking the time to sign the objection forms, as well as the SUN for shedding light on the matter.  People need to be vigilant about what shops and businesses are opening in their neighbourhoods.  If you do not see the notice on the store or in a paper, it will be too late.”

Numerous attempts to obtain comment from the liquor store proved futile.
