Swimmers bag junior sprints medals

Titans Swimming Club made a splash when seven junior swimmers (12 years and under) competed at the junior sprints at Westville Boys High School on Sunday, 8 September.

 

Swimmers from as far as Ballito participated and Titans proved it is rising to the top after their talented swimmers achieved good results.

Representing the club for the first time was Melande Badenhorst in the eight-year-old age group. She won bronze in the 25m freestyle, 25m backstroke and 25m breaststroke.

Kayli Janse van Rensburg also represented the club in her first gala and won her first medal, a bronze for 25m backstroke in the nine-year-old age group.

Demar van Tonder won silver for 25m freestyle and bronze for 25m backstroke in the nine-year-old age group.

MD van Tonder won four silver medals in the 10-year-old age group for 25m freestyle, 25m backstroke, 25m breaststroke and 100m IM.

Tristan Swart won a bronze medal for 50m butterfly and gold for 100m IM in the 11-year-old age group.

Tristan Janse van Rensburg is also new to the swimming scene and he won silver for 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly and bronze for 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke and 100m IM in the 11-year-old age group.

Another new swimmer for Titans, Reece Jones, won his first medals in the 12-year-old age group – bronze for 50m freestyle, silver for 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly, and gold for 100m IM.

Titans Swimming Club trains at Kuswag Skool every day with coach Marno Langeveldt, who was an SA record holder.
