5 things you need to know about Telegram

You may have noticed that we are sending news links out on the Telegram app.

1.Telegram Messenger is a messaging app that works just like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger. That means you can send messages for free by using a Wi-Fi connection or mobile data. Users can send messages and photos, videos, stickers, audio and files of any type.

2.Telegram has double ticks next to each message to show that it has been sent and received; and the ability to share locations, photos and documents.

3.Telegram allows 10,000 contacts to be added to a group,  and allows you to seamlessly move your conversations between your smartphone, tablet and even your desktop.

4. Telegram lets you send files to contacts,up to 1.5 GB each (WhatsApp limits files to 16 MB)

5.Telegram also gives you the option to start a new “Secret Chat” These Secret Chats are not saved to the cloud.
You can even set a self-destructing time limit on secret chats so they disappear within a few seconds, a few minutes, an hour, a day or a week.

  • The set up process
  • Install the Telegram app.
  • Register your account – (you’ll be prompted to enter your phone number. Telegram will immediately send you a text message with a four digit code to verify that it’s your real number. Enter that code into the app to continue.)
  • Add your name and a picture.
  • Telegram can automatically search your contacts for friends who use it but after you have granted the app permission to access your address book.
  • You can send an invite to join a chat by tapping on a friend’s name
