Finals in sight for Winkle bowlers

The club will be open on Saturday, 21 September, to watch the rugby match between South Africa and New Zealand, with a starting time of 11am for 11.45am.

Club competitions at Winkle Bowling Club are now into the semi-finals, with the finals well in sight before the cut-off date.

In the women’s Caltex twinkle trips played on Wednesday, 11 September, overall winners were Julie Sutherland, Jacqui Fouche and Margaret van Belkum. The first session was won by Vera Broskie, Lys McDonald and Toni Roberts, while the second session went to Maureen Warrior, Sheila Court and Elbie Fourie.

The 100 board was won by Tokkie de Kock and the mystery prize went to Pippa Hanel.

In the men’s monthly trips played on Thursday, 12 September, overall winners were Allan Duncan, Brian Cox and Reg Behr. The second session was won by Bill Hobbs, Steve Liebetrau and Herbie Hoffman, and the 100 board was won by Les Gibbens.

In the mixed nominated 2-4-2 pairs, Estelle van der Merwe and Piet du Toit overcame John Scott and Lynn Fitzsimmons, and Basil and Sylveigh Ananiadis defeated Annalie Pienaar and Dries Snyman.

In the mixed nominated pairs, Alan Raubenheimer and Lou Bingham overcame Estelle van der Merwe and Piet du Toit.

A fire will be lit for those who wish to braai, so bring your meat and salads. The bar will also be open and all bowlers are welcome.

The men’s monthly 2-4-2 takes place on Thursday, 26 September. Contact Neville Roscoe in Barry De Wee’s absence from the club.

Social bowls is on Wednesday and Fridays at 1.30pm for 2pm.

There will be a meal on Friday evening, 20 September. Vetkoek with mince and soup is on the menu. Put your name on the board or contact Norma Raath should you wish to attend.

The club wishes all those with birthdays in September a blessed year ahead.
