Toti swimmers brave the cold to record personal bests

Tristan Swart scooped a bronze medal in the 11 to 12 year age group for 100m fly.

Nine swimmers from Titans Swimming Club recorded personal bests at their first big gala of the 2019/20 season.

The Beavers Gala was held at the newly reopened Kings Park outer pool at the weekend.

Swimmers braved the cold weather and rain on Friday, 30 August, in the afternoon and into the evening and the strong winds on Saturday, 31 August, ending with gorgeous Durban weather on Sunday, 1 September.

Coach Marno Langeveldt was pleased with their results as the nine swimmers swam personal bests in almost every race.

Demar van Tonder won eight gold medals in the eight and under age group for 25m free, back, breast and fly, 50m free, breast and back and 100m IM.

He was also awarded a prize for being the top swimmer in his age group.

Tristan Janse van Rensburg swam his first levels gala and managed to win five bronze medals in the nine to 10 year age group for 50m back, breast and fly, 100m fly and 200m IM.
