Boost your immune system by sipping on nutritious ‘golden milk’

Creamy and delicious meets nutritious in this turmeric latte, an absolute must-have at home.

Most are well aware of the many benefits of incorporating turmeric into your diet.

If you’re not as aware: Improve your health with turmeric

Diabetes control, cancer prevention, arthritis remedy, immunity boosting and digestive aiding are some of the many (and I mean many) health benefits of this orange-yellow root.

In saying all this, Wellness Mama has provided the most heart-warming, nutritious, creamy, magical ‘golden milk’ recipe. This turmeric tea is said to maximise the natural antioxidant power of turmeric because its ingested when hot, as well as combined with other beneficial spices and a little bit of fat – which increases and improves absorption.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of milk of choice (almond, pecan, coconut, and dairy all work in this recipe) or use bone broth in place of the milk for a more hearty tea.
  • 1 tsp turmeric or turmeric spice mix.
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon.
  • pinch of black pepper (increases absorption).
  • tiny piece of fresh, peeled ginger root or 1/4 tsp ginger powder.
  • pinch of cayenne pepper (optional).
  • 1 tsp raw honey or maple syrup to taste (optional).

Instructions

  1. First, blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender until smooth.
  2. Pour into a small saucepan, heat for 3-5 minutes over medium heat until hot – but not boiling.
  3. Drink immediately.

Notes

  • This may stain blenders and countertops. The colour will eventually fade, but making a thick paste of baking soda and water and scrubbing the stain can help.
  • Recipe can be halved or doubled if needed.
