Lyn’s bird out races the flock

The Federation Open Champs takes place on Saturday, 17 August

Saturday, 10 August, saw Toti fanciers compete in the yearling race from Bethal in the North (410 km) and Winburg in the West (413km).

The birds were liberated from both points in good weather at 7.15am. Lyn Rossouw of Umkomaas was ecstatic when she won the Bethal race with a velocity of 1 669m per minute (100kmh). She also won the Federation Z nomination as well as the club pools.

All in all, a good Women’s Day weekend and to top it, Lyn and Tony celebrated their wedding anniversary as well. Second and third was their Umkomaas neighbour Basil Tait, followed by Hendrik Havenga and Doug Fry. The West race was won by Doug Fry first and second, with Basil Tait taking third and fourth.

The Federation Open Champs takes place on Saturday, 17 August, from Pietersburg for any age birds.
