Rat problem raises fears

A CONCERNED Toti resident has contacted the SUN to complain about the rubble in Beach Road.

The Sweetwaters resident claims that rubble is accumulating in the car park near the Lagoon Hotel, and is attracting rats. She said she had contacted the health department, but nothing had been done about the problem by Friday last week.

 

Motorist robbed after car broke down on N2 off ramp

A MOTORIST who broke down on the N2 south bound off ramp to Doonside was robbed by two armed men on Friday.

Waterfall resident, Llewelyn van Wyk, was robbed after his car broke down at about 9.45am. Mr van Wyk was approached by two young men, driving a white 1980 Toyota LDV with no number plates. The men demanded Mr van Wyk’s car, but after finding it was not working, robbed him.

 

School girl hit by car in St Winifreds

A SEVEN year old girl was knocked over in St Winifreds on Thursday.

Doon Heights Primary pupil, Simone Hattingh, was hit by a car in Berrio Avenue at about 1pm. She had alighted from a bus and was crossing the road when the accident occurred. She was taken to Addington Hospital by ambulance, where a doctor discovered that she had a cracked vertebra.

 

Shopper is upset by slippery floor tiles

A CONCERNED Toti resident has contacted the SUN after slipping on the tiled floor at Southgate Mall.

“A friend and I were walking on the tiles surrounding the Southgate Mall, which were so slippery and smooth it was difficult to keep my footing,” she said. “My feet slipped away from me and I had a nasty fall, jolting myself rather badly and shaking me up considerably.” She said she had recently recovered from a shoulder operation and had had hip replacement surgery last year.

 

Sharp shooting traffic officers retain title

LOCAL traffic inspectors Gary Perfect and Dave Williams have shot themselves into the limelight again with yet another firearm proficiency award.

Four months ago it was reported in the SUN that the two men had outgunned 14 other two-man teams from traffic inspectorates all over Natal for the Redford and Bresler trophy. This time round the pair had to stave off a determined Dundee-based duo in a shootout on 30 July, to retain their title after the competitors had tied at the end of the competition.
