New journey awaits Chard family

"We will miss the friendly people of Toti and the SUN. We made so many friends over the years." - Heather Chard.

The Chard family is leaving Toti and relocating to the UK. After the death of husband and father, Derek in May, Heather and Warren have been waiting to sell the family’s bottle store in Doonside to immigrate.

“I am going to live with my daughter Caroline Landman in Bedford, while Warren will go back to working for the railways. Warren matriculated at the Open Air school in Glenwood in 1996, before going to work for National Rail in the UK for 10 years. He was working in the London Underground when the Kings Cross bombing took place in 2005,” said Heather.

Chard’s bottle store, which they owned for 12 years, was a Toti institute and with Derek’s love of fishing, you knew you could get an update on the sardines, what fish were on the bite or what was happening on the rugby field while picking up your favourite tipple.

“We are so excited for this new chapter of our lives and I cannot wait to spend time with my grandchildren. We are over the moon. We will miss the friendly people of Toti and the SUN. We made so many friends over the years. We have had a trying few years with Derek’s illness and death, but out of sadness, comes happiness.”
