City accepts water meter readings from residents

The City does accept water meter readings from customers.

The municipality has cleared the confusion surrounding residents submitting their own water meter readings and whether the city will accept their submissions.

There were conflicting responses on whether the city would deem submissions valid after residents enquired on the ward 97 Facebook page during the week.

“The city does accept water meter readings from customers. However, we encourage them to take a clear picture of the reading and the meter number must also be visible on the picture,” said eThekwini acting head of communications, Mandla Nsele.

Customers can send pictures to the city via e-mail at eservices@durban.gov.za or via WhatsApp on 073-148-3477.
