Blockage leads to interrupted water supply

Stones had entered the system which caused a blockage.

Blockages in the inlet valve of the School Road reservoir are to blame for water supply problems in Doonside.

Ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge said the repair was completed and valves opened at midnight, but when no water was being delivered to lower areas closer the beach, officials identified that stones had entered the system which caused blockages to fill the areas below the reservoir this morning (Wednesday, 31 July).

“Attendance was subsequently requested from the Pinetown based department that attends to valves. We are awaiting feedback on their findings and indication of restored flow into firstly the reservoir and subsequently the network on the eastern (sea) side of the School Road reservoir down to the beach areas,” said Beetge.
