Sweet fun for Seed of Hope children

The spirit of togetherness and Ubuntu permeated the courtyard at Seed of Hope.

There were smudges of icing on little faces as youngsters concentrated hard to win a bake off at the Seed of Hope (SOH) organisation in Bhekuwandle. Galleria Mall invited local students from SOH’s after school programme to pit their cupcake decorating skills against one another for a festive Mandela Day.

The afternoon kicked off at 2pm with about 120 eager participants. Each staff member was teamed up with a group of children and they were given a picture to replicate to show off their icing skills to win a floating trophy. “The programme was designed to upskill the community to create sustainability. It was evident that the children are skilled and with more development and training, we will definitely find an upcoming home industry in the community soon.

The team at Galleria Mall was privileged to be included in the programme. The spirit of togetherness and Ubuntu permeated the courtyard at Seed of Hope and lots of fun was had by everyone, including us,” said Galleria marketing manager Anusha Timul.

It’s a joint effort from Nduduzo Mvune, Asanda Duma and Nokwanda Dununa to mix the perfect icing.
