SATURDAY, 27 JULY - SATURDAY, 3 AUGUST

SATURDAY, 27 JULY: Warner Beach’s Mills Bomb Shellhole invites the community to its annual Veterans Memorial Parade from 10am. The event is not only for Moths, but other veterans and family members. There will be a cash bar, draft beer on tap, refreshments, food, stalls, the new play area and jumping castle. Sky divers will land on the beach in front of the shellhole, weather permitting. Braai fires will be lit for those who prefer their own cooking. Music will be provided by the shellhole’s very own Martin V.

 

SUNDAY, 28 JULY: Stargazer hosts a family fun day fundraiser with various foods and other items for sale at the Umkomaas soccer field in Robertsons Street, Umkomaas from 9am to about 4pm. There will also be a talk for children on nature, domestic cats and big cats as well as shark conservation, a potjie competition with prizes and lots more. To make a donation, join the potjie competition or have a stand at the flea market, contact Judy on 082-230-8284 or Sherry on 079-068-6717. All proceeds go to Cats of Durban.

 

SUNDAY, 28 JULY: Same Love Toti offers private counselling with a registered psychologist for transgender and gender diverse persons of all ages at the TrainYouCan training venue, 277 Avondale Road, Morningside from 10am to 3pm. Transport from Toti will be provided. Parents of gender diverse children or youth are also welcome. Booking is essential. THURSDAY, 1 AUGUST: The burgers and bowls by floodlight social evening will take place on the first Thursday evening of the month as usual, hosted by Amanzimtoti Bowling Club. Bowls is a fun game the whole family can play together, combining skill and strategy. There will be members on hand to show you the ropes and bowls will be available for use. Registration is at 5pm for 5.30pm start, game lasts about 75 minutes. Wear flat soled takkies or sandals. Cost is R25 for the game and R30 for a burger.

 

FRIDAY, 2 AUGUST: Probus members note that the next meeting will be held at the tranquil stunning surroundings at the Umbovango Nature Reserve at 9.20am for 10am. There will be an interesting speaker. Bring your meat, salads, drinks and eating utensils for the braai after the meeting. Contact the secretary, Cliff Hole on 076-542-5082 for further information.

 

SATURDAY, 3 AUGUST: The Sanctuary of the Great White Light, 9 Barrow Street Umkomaas, will host Karina Joubert who will give a talk on intergrated healing from 2pm to 4.30pm. For more information, contact Gayle Weston on 083-654-5261.
