New chapter awaits South Coast Sun journalist Holly Konig

Passionate about my hometown and the newspaper that reports on the day-to-day happenings, whether at a local school or abroad continuing my travels, I will always hold a keen interest in the South Coast Sun.

IT is with a heavy heart, but equally amounted excitement for all that awaits, that I announce my departure from the South Coast Sun, which I have been writing for some two and a half years.

I leave in order to continue growing and learning through pursuing my teaching degree and possible further travels.

It has proven to be a tedious task to put into words my gratitude to Caxton and my colleagues at the SUN office for taking me in without experience or qualification in January 2017. I extend that same immense gratitude to the people of Amanzimtoti who as threads of material, weave the beautiful tapestry that is our town.

This learning process has been an interesting, exciting and reaffirming one. Both writing and photography I had always enjoyed, but through my time here I have not only learned so much about both, but have grown truly passionate about them too.

I’m certain that I will build onto what I have learned and may very well find myself working in the media industry again someday.

I thank all of you for the opportunities I have been offered, experience I have gained, amazing people I have had the honor to meet, incidences to report on and learning I have done over these years.

I’m sure both the South Coast Sun and sister paper Southlands Sun will continue to thrive as they always have.

Passionate about my hometown and the newspaper that reports on the day-to-day happenings, whether at a local school or abroad continuing my travels, I will always hold a keen interest in the South Coast Sun.

I will sorely miss my colleagues but will forever hold them and all those I have met along this journey, close to my heart.
