Vehicle scammers almost crashed a white BMW into CCPO committee member Rob Mill in the CBD at about 2pm. At almost the same time CCPO and Blue Security patrol officer, Mbuyiselo ‘Triple M’ Mdunjane reported over the radio that a white BMW was involved in a scam where they sell a car and keep the car and the money. The suspect had allowed the victim to test drive a vehicle that he was supposedly selling. But as soon as the funds the victim had paid the suspect had cleared in a bank account, the suspects jumped into the BMW and fled the scene.

The vehicle was followed through Athlone Park into Prospecton and then onto the N2 south. SAPS and ET joined in the chase while being updated via radio and communicating with other members in the area. “When the BMW went along Jeffels Road towards Isipingo he was greeted by quite a few SAPS vehicles. One suspect was arrested by SAPS and is possibly linked to more than 20 similar cases. This was great teamwork by CCPO, SAPS, Blue and ET officers,” said CCPO committee member, George Snodey.

Earlier that day CCPO, Blue and ET officers nabbed a housebreaker after he broke into a Highway Road, Amanzimtoti premises.
