Respect your neighbours [LETTER]

We need a mediator please and quickly

EDITOR – Our quiet little cul-de-sac rests above Whitfield Drive yet below Snaefell Road in St Winifreds.

It is home to some 16 properties with five different security companies but being a cul-de-sac, it should be able to monitor itself. Cars or people who are there need to explain why they are there. It is home to two mechanical workshops, whose business cards seem reluctant to give too much detail, with all their customers, breakdowns, oil tankers and recovery vehicles. It also hosts a creché whose owner has gone the extra mile to make herself unobtrusive. I supported her application, but little did she think such a cul-de-sac would become the Kingsway of local suburbs.

It is also home to a dog or two, on every property who have no qualms to releasing their dogs outside to make their presence known. We even have one woman teaching us what all the barks mean. The neighborhood watch which started with good intentions, is now resorting to send cake recipes on their group with no experience of trying to establish a social network and an emergency network group. It even has an original member causing panic seeing issues in her car ports that were not there.

That last incident polarized 16 properties into two neighborhood watches rendering the neighborhood watch totally incredulous. We need a mediator please and quickly, preferably not our local councilor, someone who can drag this community together into shape. What has started this is two trial bikes not using facilities in Arbour, but using our road instead.

Please could you help to put some ‘respect your neighbours’ attitude into our cul-de-sac.
