Artists to draw sea animals at next USCAA meeting

The Upper South Coast Art Association (USCAA) will hold its July meeting at Amanzimtoti library on Saturday, 20 July.

The meeting starts at 1pm and ends at about 4pm. Refreshments will be supplied for a small fee.

The afternoon meeting will be preceded by the morning drawing session, which will begin at 9am and end at about noon.

The drawing class for the year will be presented by Irma Reinhardt and the following will be needed:

Bring along pictures of sea animals and also have a black and white photocopy of your pictures.

1. Pencil and rubber for planning the drawing.

2. Black drawing pen (permanent ink).

3. White gel pen.

4. Black acrylic ink.

5. White acrylic ink or white acrylic paint. White ink is very difficult to find.

6. Small and medium paintbrush.

7. Four sheets of paper towel.

8. Container for water.

9. Small plastic or polystyrene tray to dilute the ink.

10. Black plastic dirt bin bag to protect the table.

Prepared paper will be provided. The guest artist this month will be Ashley Munsamy, who is a lecturer in the art and design department at Thekwini College and has studied at the University of Durban, Westville.

Ashley recently exhibited at Art in the Park and many people were captivated by his ‘flag’ artwork.
