Pay it forward at Amanzimtoti SPCA this #MandelaDay2019

Other great ways to assist the shelter include making donations of unwanted clothing, books or household goods to one of it's thrift shops, the newest situated right in Warner Beach at 115 Kingsway.

KEEPING the Amanzimtoti SPCA in mind this Mandela Day, which falls on Thursday, 18 July, the local shelter shared the best ways that individuals, groups or businesses can offer it assistance.

While the community shouldn’t wait for one day of the year to ‘pay it forward’, the dates serves as a reminder for individuals, groups and businesses alike, to keep in mind the importance of committing good deeds.

Manager, Tracey Girling explained that the local shelter is in desperate need of dog and cat food, both wet and dry. Cooked food for the animals is appreciated, and if doing so, rice with pets mince or chicken are appreciated, but no bones as these pose health risks.

Other great ways to assist the shelter include making donations of unwanted clothing, books or household goods to one of it’s thrift shops, the newest situated right in Warner Beach at 115 Kingsway.

Cash donations are always greatly appreciated and can be made to: SPCA Amanzimtoti, Standard Bank, branch code: 057 827, account number: 053211189.

Toti SPCA stipulated that while it may sound like a great idea to arrive to walk the shelter’s dogs on Mandela Day, the community should refrain from doing so (unless they’re experienced volunteers at the shelter) as the influx of eager walkers not understanding the process causes much upset at the shelter, and places stress on staff.

If keen to volunteer at the SPCA as a doggie walker or assist in the thrift shops, call 031-904-2424. Follow Amanzimtoti SPCA on Facebook.
